From October 2010, AYWA implements the project “Enhancing Women Rights Through Their Empowerment, in the Republic of Armenia, Lori region”. The program beneficiaries are the women and girls from Alaverdi, Haghpat, Odzun, Akori, Ayrum, Akhtala, Neghots and Shamlugh of the Lori region.
In the frames of the programme in the mentioned communities Women councils have been formed, which actively take part in the decision making process at local level, put forward the women problems and try to give solutions to them partnering with different stakeholders of the community.
On the 17th of September, 2011, in Akhtala (Lori region), the official launching event of the Women Support Center took place. The event was followed by the exhibition of communities titled “My community with my eyes” organized by the Women Councils members, Girls State Movement members from Lori region and the participants of the “Active citizens” British Council programme . AYWA president Ms.Lilit Asatryan, British Council Yerevan office director Ms.Arevik Saribekyan and the coordinator of the project “Enhancing Women Rights Through Their Empowerment, in the Republic of Armenia, Lori region” Ms.Liana Dallaqyan, awarded with the certificates and diplomas to the participants of the project, the winners of the essays and posters contest titled “My role in the development of my community”. The Women Councils of the communities were also awarded with the certificates for representing their communities, networking and highlighting women problems and initiating their solution with partnering with each other.
