Summer School "It's time to be a leader" took place.

The program is implemented by Armenian Young Women's Association by the support of Global Fund for Women.

The participants of the program are twenty-one 18-30 aged young girls and women from Yerevan and different regions of the Republic of Armenia. The selection of the participants included two phases: presenting an application form and passing an interview.

The main aim of the Summer School is to form and develop leadership skills within young girls and women.

The grand opening was attended and welcomed by Mr Artak Davtyan - the Chair of the Commission of Education, Science, Culture, Youth and Sports of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Mr Armen Ashotyan – the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, Mr Arsen Karamyan – the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Ms Anahit Sarukhanyan - the coordinator of women programs of National Democratic Institute, Tamara Gevorgyan - the Coordination Board Member of "Woman-leader" Forum, Ms Alla Levonyan - the Board Member of Armenian Young Women's Association and the famous singer.
After the grand opening finished, the twenty-one participants of the "It's time to be a leader" Summer School arrived to the AYWA’s office where the Summer School workshop started at noon.
The Summer School covers the following topics:
- Civic education and civic participation
- Governing
- Women’s participation in decision making process
- Women’s rights in the Human Rights context
- Project management
- Public relations and social influence
- Effective communication and team work
- Leadership
- Health and health care
- Voluntarism etc.
The Summer school includes seminars on different topics, discussions, games, individual and team works as well as meetings with successful women and public actors.
The Summer School is held between 17 and 27 August. On August 23 the participants will leave for Hankavan to proceed with the education in the atmosphere of Armenian nature.
