Local Economic Development model café was held in Vanadzor within Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project.
Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project has being implemented by Armenian Young Women’s Association (AYWA) and is funded by the European Union. This event was a round-table discussion with the purpose to brainstorm solutions for the economic problems in the communities.
The participants were Tumanyan, Dsegh, Chkalov, Kharinj, Marts, Lorut and Shamut communities’ representatives, community leaders.
During the meeting participants presented competitive advantages of every community, defined the most important problems in the communities and discussed community economic development main directions.
In LED component implementation AYWA adopted cluster approach, viewing the community in the context of surrounding communities’ development, which significantly increases the efficiency of the Project. Entrepreneurship trainings for women will follow LED component. AYWA is going to provide financial assistance to entrepreneurship trainings best business projects’,- said AYWA president Lilit Asatryan.
LED model café participants expressed their opinion on the project, especially appreciating women’s economic participation promotion in communities.
Armenian Young Women’s Association (AYWA) has been implementing Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project in Lori Region since May 2013. The project duration is three years from May 2013 to May 2016.
The goal of the Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project is to promote the development of women’s social and economic capacities in Lori region and the improvement of women’s social and economic situation. The project partners are CISP organization, Lori Marzpetaran and Vanadzor municipality.
The project is funded by the European Union.
